Course Description:
Kelly Grummons will discuss his work looking for new, more drought tolerant plants for the Great Plains landscape.

Presented by Kelly Grummons:

Over the last 30 years, Kelly has devoted his life to discovering, breeding and introducing many new plants to the market. Kelly was the chief horticulturist and co-owner of Timberline Gardens in Arvada, CO which has recently closed after 17 years as a rare plant business. He currently owns the mail order website coldhardycactus.com where he sells over 100 varieties of winter hardy cacti and other succulents to customers all over the United States. He also works with Brown’s Greenhouse in Arvada, CO where he is developing an extensive perennial plant program for their wholesale program. Kelly develops and markets new plants like Agastache ‘Blue Blazes’ (one of the “best new plants” in 2011 in Horticulture Magazine), Achillea ‘Gloria Jean’, Salvia ‘Windwalker Royal Red’, Penstemon ‘Coral Baby’, Big Bluestem Grass ‘Windwalker’, Walk In Beauty Prickly Pear Hybrids and many other low-water varieties. His Dog Tuff™ grass received the Green Thumb Award from the Direct Gardening Association for one of the best new plants for 2015 and was selected by the Plant Select program to be introduced as a great new plant in 2016.
