Emerald ash borer was found in Boulder County in September 2013. This insect is one of the most serious United States forests and urban areas have ever experienced. As of September 2016, emerald ash borer was confirmed in 27 states and two Canadian provinces. Join Alison O’Connor from CSU Extension in Larimer County to learn about the biology and history of the insect, options for homeowners and potential treatment options. Alison Stoven O’Connor is the Colorado State University Extension horticulture agent in Larimer County. She’s been with Extension for twelve years. Alison coordinates the Larimer County Master Gardener program and assists homeowners and industry with horticultural questions. She attended Iowa State University and The Ohio State University, majoring in horticulture, and completed her Ph.D. at Colorado State University in 2014, studying nursery tree production and landscape establishment. In her spare time she enjoys golfing, tending to her backyard chickens and growing giant zucchini for competition.
