The Do’s & Don’ts for Building Soil Health
February 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$18Course Description:
Whether your passion is your lawn, your flowers, your trees and shrubs, or your vegetable garden, all gardeners have one thing in common: they want their plants to be healthy and thriving. But the health of your plants is strongly dependent on the health of your soil–if your soil isn’t healthy, your plants won’t be either. We’ll discuss what soil health is, how to build and maintain it, and which management practices to avoid that degrade soil health.
Presented by Dr. Jean Reeder:
Dr. Reeder worked 30 years for the USDA Agricultural Research Service as a soil scientist conducting research studies on the properties of soils in Colorado and Wyoming. Since retiring, she works as a consultant for the CSU Soil Testing Lab, and as a soils instructor for the Colorado Master Gardener Program and the Denver Botanic Gardens Rocky Mountain Gardening certification program. Her passion these days is helping gardeners understand as much about their soil as they do about their plants, and how to manage soil health to achieve healthy landscapes.
