Workshop: Making Meadow and Prairie Gardens

February 27, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$22

09_Meadow_Prairie_GardensEvocative and romantic, whether natural or planted–meadows and prairies are complex yet serene, full of bird and insect life, and at home here along the Front Range. Learn how to create such a garden, from practical start-up, planting, and maintenance to the best plants for various soils and moisture regimes. Contrary to common belief, these are not low-maintenance or simple gardens but with knowledge and the right plants, they can be among the most long-lived, sustainable, beautiful, and rewarding.

Fort Collins garden designer and author Lauren Springer Ogden’s public and private work embraces naturalism with a regional resonance. She has been experimenting with meadow and prairie gardens for 15 years, first at home and then with clients. Her books include Plant Driven Design and The Undaunted Garden. Her newest public project, the Visitors’ Center gardens at Denver Botanic Gardens’ Chatfield Farms, is becoming a popular spot for inspiration on the subject.
