SUMMARY:Gardening for Insects…or Not
DESCRIPTION:Gardening for Insects…or Not\nPresented by Dr. Whitney Cranshaw (Emeritus Professor of Entomology at CSU)\nDetails: \n\nDate: Saturday\, February 3\nDoors: 9:15 am\nClass: 9:30 am – 11:00 am\nTickets: $18\nFood & drinks will not be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.\n\n  \nCourse Description: \nWhile the “why” and “how” of improving habitat for various “beneficial” or desirable kinds of insects is increasingly well known for bees and butterflies\, there is much more to this complex topic. Join Dr. Whitney Cranshaw in learning how to effectively adapt these practices to local conditions for maximum effect. This program will explore how to build up populations of a wide range of “good bugs” that live in the region – from butterflies and “hummingbird moths” to various kinds of bees and natural enemies of insect pests – and what can be done to avoid a few a few that are less desired (miller moths). \n  \nPresented by Dr. Whitney Cranshaw: \nWhitney Cranshaw is an Emeritus Professor of Entomology at Colorado State University where he has worked since 1983. During this time he has conducted a wide ranging Extension/Research/Teaching program with the primary focus of improving the understanding of and effective management of insects of horticultural crops (vegetables/fruits\, flowers\, trees/shrubs\, turfgrass\, hemp). He has written extensively on these subjects\, producing many hundreds of publications on research and for public education/Extension. He has also written several books\, perhaps best known being Garden Insects of North America and Bugs Rule! An Introduction to the World of Insects. Although retired from CSU in July 2020\, he has not retired from “bugs” and continues to write\, speak with diverse audiences\, support websites and listserv discussion groups\, and conduct research on projects of interest. \n  \nClick Here to Register \n  \nImportant class details (Please read carefully)\nCOVID-19 Policy \nPlease stay at home if you are feeling sick or demonstrating any symptoms of COVID-19 or any respiratory illness the day of the presentation or have recently been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
