SUMMARY:A Naturalist Loose in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:Details: \n\nDate: January 25\nTime: 1-3pm\nCost: $18 (+ $2.50 service charge per ticket)\n\n  \nCourse Description: \nGardens can provide more than just food for the belly; they can also provide nourishment for mind and spirit.  A well planned and adequately tended garden offers a chance to engage\nwildlife—animals as well as plants—at home on a daily basis and not just on an occasional hike.  Come explore a few very specific ways to get more from your garden than just salad. \n  \nPresented by Kevin Cook: \nMoving from Iowa to Colorado in 1974\, Kevin earned his BA in biology from Western State College in Gunnison then his MS in wildlife biology at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.  He worked five seasons as an interpretive naturalist with the National Park Service\, including four at Curecanti National Recreation Area and one at Everglades National Park.  He worked one summer as a wildlife technician for the Colorado Division of Wildlife.  Since 1981\, he has worked full time as a writer-naturalist\, a career that has included writing\, editing\, speaking\, consulting\, teaching\, and guiding\, all of it involving Colorado’s lifescapes and wildlife.  Over his career\, Kevin has had about 10\,000 pieces of writing published.  Many of his works were featured in a weekly column in the Coloradoan (37 years)\, a gardening column for Gardening How-To magazine (8 years)\, and a gardening to attract wildlife column for Bird Watcher’s Digest (15 years).  \n  \n“When working\, I walk among the trees that I might engage the birds and wildflowers that I might learn about them to enrich the lives of others.  When relaxing\, I walk among the trees that I might engage the birds and wildflowers to enrich my own life.” Kevin Cook \n  \nExperience Level: Beginner-Advanced \n  \nClick here to register \n
