Horticultural Production Team Member (Seasonal)
This role will report to Mulberry and Ault location as business requires, with a $2/hour pay increase for time spent at Ault location.
The Horticultural Production Team Member will be responsible for assisting in the production and care of the over 50,000 plants that Fort Collins Nursery grows annually. Employees in this position will be required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as they assist with production, receiving, and general maintenance processes.
Position Responsibilities:
- Propagation: Assist in the propagation of plants through seed sowing, cuttings, and division.
- Planting: Participate in the planting and transplanting of a variety of plants according to established guidelines.
- Cultivation: Perform cultivation tasks such as weeding, watering, and pruning.
- Monitor plant health including identifying and reporting pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.
- Watering: Assist with watering plant material on a regular basis.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking plant growth stages.
- Assist in the unloading of plant shipments and check-in processes.
- Assist in stocking retail nursery plants as required.
- General Maintenance: Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of production areas.
- Operate and maintain horticultural equipment and machinery while ensuring they are in proper working condition.
- Assist with ground maintenance and light facility repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to accomplish daily tasks in support of Production department goals and ensure efficient workflows.
- Ensure established safety procedures are followed and maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in training programs and stay up to date on horticultural best practices and overall industry trends.
- Production processes require an attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Time management highly preferred. Employees in this position will need to work efficiently and meet season-specific deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability is highly preferred. Employees may be required to shift priorities or assist other Nursery teams with work as business needs fluctuate.
- Enjoying plant production and care highly preferred. Having a genuine interest in plant production and care along with a willingness to learn production practices will set up an employee for success in this role.
- Being able to work with others as a team and communicate. This position has extremely minimal and limited customer interaction, but employees in this position will need to work alongside other Nursery staff in a productive and respectful manner.
- Must possess reliable transportation. Production has facilities both at our Mulberry retail location as well as a dedicated production facility in Ault. Staff in this role will be expected to travel to our Ault facility as required.
- Experience in horticulture production is highly preferred.

Greenhouse Sales Associate (Seasonal)
Wage range: $15-16/hr. depending on qualifications.
Position Summary
The Greenhouse Retail Sales Associate is responsible for making our customers feel welcome and providing a superior retail experience. Sales Associates will assist customers with selecting plants, answering basic questions, identifying client needs and recommending solutions. A positive attitude and desire to resolve customer issues is an important aspect of this position. Additionally, the Sales Associates will assist with unloading trucks, stocking and caring for plants. This position reports to the Greenhouse Personnel Supervisor and Greenhouse Support Supervisor.
Position Responsibilities:
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
- Provide information about plants, products, and Fort Collins Nursery services including sales and discounts.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards all staff and customers.
- Process and stock product, and participate in routine inventory checks and restocking as needed.
- Stay informed about product offerings, promotions, and upcoming special events.
- Participate in potting program including potting and re-potting plants.
- Handle customer issues in a way that improves employee relationships when possible.
- Daily care and maintenance of plants in Greenhouse Department.
- Assist with upkeep of Greenhouse areas including Fairy Garden area.
Position Requirements:
- Quick learner with an attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with strong conflict resolution and teambuilding skills.
- Time management and the ability to multi-task in a busy retail environment.
- Ability to anticipate customer needs and recommend appropriate products.
- Inter-personal relationship building skills with both customers and employees.
- Weekend availability/flexibility required.
- Extensive knowledge of Nursery products highly preferred.
- Ability to receive and process feedback in a constructive manner highly desired.
- Bilingual a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Previous retail experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds repeatedly; may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout retail space.
- Position will be both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Position will be exposed to frequent temperature fluctuations.
