First Saturdays in The Gardens: LISTEN in the Gardens

The Gardens on Spring Creek will host LISTEN in The Gardens, Saturday, August 6, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Storytellers from Spellbinders® Oral Storytelling of Larimer County will recreate the age-old art of oral storytelling under the Greenroof Shelter in the Children’s Garden. Stories begin at 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m, 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.
Readings by local authors and poets will be held under the Timberframe structure at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.
- John Hafnor, author of Strange but True, Colorado, will read from his book at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Hafnor’s work has been featured on The History Channel.
- Poet Lisa Zimmerman will read her poetry at 12:00 p.m. Ms. Zimmerman has published two poetry chapbooks as well as the full-length collections How the Garden Looks From Here, winner of the 2004 Violet Reed Haas Poetry Award, and The Light at the Edge of Everything (Anhinga Press, 2008).
- Author Charlie Malone will read at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Malone’s poetry and prose have appeared in fine publications including Phoebe, Harpur Palate, Permafrost, The Laurel Review, and Boneshaker: A Bicycling Almanac. He works on Wolverine Farm’s community-based Matterhorn, and Matter Journal.
Hungry listeners can grab a snack at the Cupcake Cruiser from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
