Native Plants for Bees, Butterflies, and Beauty!

February 17, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$18

Course Description:

One of the greatest challenges to creating gardens that provide good habitat for bees, butterflies and other wildlife is to also provide beauty and garden performance for us humans, too. This workshop will provide in-depth information about the winning native selections from Plant Select. You’ll learn what makes these selections special, their native habitat and cultural preferences, how they were selected and tested, and how to use them in your own garden. A wide range of plants, from groundcovers to perennials and grasses, to trees, will be covered. New research into native species vs. native plant selections will be also discussed, and we’re certain you’ll be pleased with the results. Plant Select’s latest book, Pretty Tough Plants, will be available for sale and autograph.

Presented by Pat Hayward:

Pat Hayward, former Executive Director of Plant Select, has been involved in the regional horticultural industry for 38 years. Two-time winner of the Colorado Nursery & Greenhouse Association Nursery Person of the year award, she was the primary photographer and editor of Plant Select’s newest book, Pretty Tough Plants. Her presentations on western gardening topics at regional and national conferences are always well-received, but as a Northern Colorado gardener herself, these workshops are among her favorite to offer.

Experience Level: Beginner-Advanced
