Private Event/ Growers Only
This year, Fort Collins Nursery is working with the the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, Rocky Mountain Giant Vegetable Growers club, and Larimer County Department of Health to organize a safe location for growers to weigh their pumpkins.
As such, the competition will be closed to the public with only necessary staff, judges, and competing growers in attendance.
Proper social distancing measures outlined by the Larimer County Department of Health will be enforced to ensure a safe gathering. Wearing a mask will be required throughout the duration of the event.
Competition Categories & Prizes
- Heaviest Pumpkin
- Heaviest Pumpkin 1st Place: $1,200
- Heaviest Pumpkin 2nd Place: $800
- Heaviest Pumpkin 3rd Place: $500
- Heaviest Pumpkin 4th Place: $250
- Heaviest Pumpkin 5th Place: $100
- Heaviest Squash 1st Place: $100
- Howard Dill (Prettiest Pumpkin) 1st Place: $50
- Kids Division (13 and under) 1st, 2nd, 3rd place: Ribbon & Prize
Kids Division entries will be weighed and prizes distributed before weighing the adult division entries.
Rules and Regulations
Pre-registration
- All competitors must pre-register by Thursday, October 8 at 11:59 pm.
- The pre-registration process will ensure we can cap the number of individuals in attendance to meet Larimer County Department of Health requirements.
- To limit the number of people in attendance, we request each grower bring no more than 2 individuals as guests.
- The Larimer County Department of Health requires a list of names, phone numbers, and email addresses for everyone in attendance in order to provide contact tracing if necessary. Please provide this information for everyone in your group by filling out the preregistration form linked at the bottom of this page. Every adult guest must provide their own contact information, your contact information is not sufficient for your guests. You may however use your contact information for your young children.

Check-in
- Contestants may check in at the event between 10-11 am.
- Contestants are encouraged to check in early so we can begin the weigh-off in a timely fashion.
- Posted signage will direct you to the unload area.
- Please remain in your vehicle until it is time to unload your pumpkin.
- Weighing will begin at approximately 11:30 am.
Contestant Seating Area
- To promote social distancing, our seating area will feature a grid with individual zones for each contestant and their group. Each zone will be separated by at least 6 ft. of space in every direction.
- Groups are expected to remain in their own seating zone and avoid intermingling with other groups from distances under 6 ft.
- Please bring your own folding chairs to set up in your zone.
Safety Requirements
- Proper social distancing measures outlined by the Larimer County Department of Health will be enforced to ensure a safe gathering.
- Wearing a mask will be required throughout the duration of the event.
- High-risk or individuals are strongly encouraged to stay home.
- If you are symptomatic or suspect you or someone you’ve recently been in contact with might have COVID-19, please stay home.
Other Considerations:
- Please bring your own folding chairs to set up in your zone.
- No food or beverages will be provided for participants this year.
Participation Agreement:
By pre-registering for this event, you
1) Acknowledge the potential health risks association with participating in this event;
2) Agree to provide the county with accurate contact information for everyone in your group;
3) Agree to comply with safety protocols put in place including proper social distancing and wearing a mask throughout the duration of the event;
4) Agree to stay home if you exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 or if you suspect you or someone you’ve been in contact with may be infected;
5) Acknowledge that failure to abide by any of the Safety Rules listed on our website or any of the posted signage at the event may result in disqualification and ejection from the event.
