Dead Horses
At fifteen, Dead Horses frontwoman Sarah Vos’ world turned upside down.
Raised in a strict, fundamentalist home, Vos lost everything when she and her family were expelled from the rural Wisconsin church where her father had long served as pastor. What happened next is the story of Dead Horses’ stunning album, My Mother the Moon, a record full of trauma and triumph, despair and hope, pain and resilience.
Blending elements of traditional roots with contemporary indie folk, Dead Horses writes music that is both familiar and unexpected, unflinchingly honest in its portrayal of modern American life, yet optimistic in its unshakable faith in brighter days to come.
Described by NPR Music as “evocative, empathetic storytelling,” My Mother the Moon earned a spot in No Depression‘s “Best Roots Music Albums of 2018” list, and Rolling Stone Country declared the Wisconsin-based duo an “Artist You Need to Know.”

Alysia Kraft
Alysia Kraft (Whippoorwill, The Patti Fiasco) is former cowgirl, state Champion, and self-proclaimed emotional virtuoso. Since picking up her first pawn shop guitar at twenty-one, Alysia has been engaged in a full-fledged creative battle to make songs that she and other humans enjoy and relate to. Despite never totally identifying as a musician… Alysia loves songs, the pirate-ship camaraderie of being in bands, the incomparable magic of people connecting through music. She’s opened for rock icons Bon Jovi and Blondie (among others), played two high school proms, and waited on most of her biggest musical heroes. Life is humbling, mostly beautiful, and always full of song.
Venue Details:
This summer marks the 5th season of Fort Collins Nursery’s Rock Garden Concert Series. For three epic nights, Fort Collins Nursery will transform from a retail space to a stunning and unique concert venue appropriately dubbed “The Rock Garden.” Audience members can relax under the evening sky, nestled along the banks of Dry Creek and the Cache la Poudre River, surrounded by beautiful plants, trees and wildlife.
For each concert, we’ve partner with a wonderful local non-profit organization. A portion of ticket sales plus all bar proceeds and live auction proceeds will benefit the organization. In addition to great music, each concert will feature a beer and wine tent, food trucks, and dog adoption event. Click here to see photos from past shows
Benefit Details:
The concert is a fundraising event benefiting Project Self-Sufficiency and funds raised will support their mission to help single parents realize their dreams for financial independence while creating an improved quality of life for parents and their children. A portion of the night’s ticket sales and all donations from wine and beer sales go directly to Project Self-Sufficiency.
