Course Description
Come join Lauren as she tackles one of the most vexing subjects, garden design. Lauren has long been skeptical of many design tenets, believing that there isn’t any one particular way to design and even the most popular theories often don’t hold. Instead, she believes there are ways of seeing and thinking that can awaken originality and flow in the process, and that ultimately lead to a creation with atmosphere and sense of place. We’ll explore useful perspectives rather than hard and fast rules, with examples from diverse sites from her almost four decades of creating gardens for herself and others.
Presented by Lauren Springer
Longtime Fort Collins Nursery workshop presenter Lauren Springer is the recipient of the 2025 American Horticultural Society Landscape Design award. Her newest book, the Rocky Mountain Native Plant Primer, coauthored with Bryan Fischer, is due out this April. Lauren has designed gardens at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Chatfield Farm, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and the Gardens on Spring Creek where she is on staff.
