Course Description:

“Gardening for Wildlife” will focus on transforming gardens into biodiverse habitats. Participants will learn to select native plants, create diverse plant communities, and provide water sources and nesting sites for all types of wildlife. Sustainable gardening practices will be emphasized, including organic methods, water conservation, and composting. The workshop will highlight the importance of regular maintenance, monitoring for wildlife activity, and making seasonal adjustments. Real-world case studies will showcase how fostering a commitment to wildlife-friendly gardening will benefit not only the environment, but human well-being as well!

Presented by Zoe Clark:

With a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science concentrating in Ecology and Environmental Biology, Zoe has a wide breadth of knowledge in botany and zoology. She enjoys gardening, hiking, learning about local flora and fauna, snowboarding, and being out in nature whenever possible. Zoe is a passionate advocate for environmental stewardship, focusing the majority of her conservation efforts on increasing wildlife habitat in the U.S. through her position at Garden for Wildlife. She has been a part of the GFW team for almost a year after working in environmental testing laboratories and loves contributing to the restoration and well-being of local wildlife communities. Zoe’s ultimate hope is that through her position as a Coordinator at GFW, she can educate people about the importance of planting native species and inspire others to transform their backyards into wildlife habitats.
